REVITALISATION COMMITTEE
DOWN TOWN RICHMOND
An approach to
revitalizing down town Richmond was started in August 2002
The goal of the approach
is to undertake and stimulate the socioeconomic and development concerted in
the area.
Following are the main
challenges to overcome:
- Open dialogue and
establish collaboration where all businesses are considered partners;
- Improve commercial
diversity and better serve the consumer;
- Animate the area and
better orchestrate its promotion, and,
- Improve the look of
buildings, the physical aspect of the streets and public development.
Since the establishment
of this committee, numerous business people, community representatives, and
developers have joined

Committee's Goals:
- Guarantee the
co-ordination of the efforts and actions to revitalize;
- Improve relationships
between all major contributors or partners of the Town;
- Guarantee open
communication, knowledge and data related to actions or activities by
partners affecting the global process of economic revitalization;
- To find a consensus so
that collective decisions take into account the expectations of each
partner
- Evaluate a situation
in the beginning to be able to compare data one year later, and see the
evolution
- Define the direction
in which the application of the approach for revitalizing Main Street
should be
- Explore how to autofinance
long term
- Supervision of the coordinator's
work and decision making.
